How To React During Dental Emergencies?

There are various unfortunate situations that can result in dental emergencies. So, it is important to use proper precautions beforehand, like wear mouthguards during sports events, take proper care of oral health etc.

However, if you have already fallen prey to the situation where you or a loved one is suffering from a dental emergency, then calm down and take the right steps like suggested below:

1- Act quickly with knocked tooth: In a situation where the tooth is completely knocked out, you will need to act quickly to ensure the tooth is viable. Place the tooth back in its socket, if that isn’t happening, then place the tooth in a cup of milk or saltwater and rush towards Emergency Dental in Calgary.

2- Use cold therapy if the tooth is broken: If you see that the tooth is broken or chipped, then proceed to rinse your mouth after retrieving all the pieces. This way, you will stop the bleeding. Also, use a cold compressor to alleviate the excruciating pain.

3- Avoid retrieving stuck objects with sharp things: If you experience toothache after eating something, then don’t go ahead and retrieve the stuck food using a sharp object like a hairpin or needle. That will only result in bleeding and infection. Instead, gargle and visit your dentist sooner.

Over to you

We know it can be hard to stay calm during painful situations. But, staying calm will help you to make wise decisions, as mentioned above, for effective treatment at Emergency Dental Clinic in Calgary.
